What is Content Filtering Software?
Content-control software, also known as censorware or web filtering software, is a term for software designed and optimized for controlling what content is permitted to a reader, especially when it is used to restrict material delivered over the Web. Content-control software determines what content will be available on a particular machine or network; the motive is often to prevent persons from viewing content which the computer's owner(s) or other authorities may consider objectionable.
Why would I use Content Filtering Software?
Organizations that operate public computer labs may consider restricting users' access to certain types of online content for a variety of reasons. If you receive federal funds to purchase technology equipment, for example, you are required by a federal law called the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) to implement a content-filtering solution. Other organizations may simply want to prevent clients from accessing web sites that display pornography, glorify gratuitous violence, or install malware.
Yet regardless of your motivations for filtering content, you will have a hard time getting the job done without content-filtering hardware or software. Content-filtering systems can save you the trouble of manually monitoring users' behavior. Cyclope is offering a 15 users license. Check out this link for details.
