About The Boukman Institute
The Boukman Institute was founded by Robert L. Hollis in 2005 and incorporated in 2006. He founded it because he saw a void in the country for an organization like The Boukman Institute. At this time, no think tank or NGO has, at its core, a primary focus to inform and educate the African American population about international law as a way to solving social and economic problems.
The mission of The Boukman Institute is to lead public debate on the social and economic issues critical to the well-being of the African American population in the United States.
Getting Online
A web site is critical for any advocacy think tank. The web site is the face of the organization and a tool to link others nationally and internationally.
By operating a web site it helped our organization to put forth its message to the world and generate both human and financial support. One of our objectives and activities was to build a professional web site. With the website, made possible by Grassroots.org, we can display information to educate the public about international human rights and other vital information to promote our mission.
The Boukman Institute on Grassroots.org
We, at the Boukman Institute, thank Grassroots.org for allowing a small emerging think tank to start with zero dollars to construct a professional web site. We were linked with a wonderful web designer, Ms. Viola Jacobs, who is now a part of our staff. The web site would have cost us a great deal of money which could have prevented us from making a start.
With Grassroots.org assistance we have begun to build an international network of human rights experts who have given us their support to help us further our mission, something that would be impossible without a web site.
Just this past Friday, the Boukman Institute received a telephone call
from a human rights specialist who informed us of his plans to link our
Institute with donors!
The Future for The Boukman Institute

The Boukman Institute wants to organize a human rights training workshop and launch an e-newsletter in 2008. We would also like to get into Grassroots.org mentor program to get help in developing a grant proposal.
