We've been busy this month here at Grassroots.org since launching the graphic design volunteer program. We're excited for the year ahead and can't wait to make this great service available to more of our nonprofits!

Help needed with "Speech recognition" project! Grassroots.org member Alliances for Psychosocial Advancements in Learning is developing a new program for guiding English language and communication skills with Internet telephony. A major goal is to promote web and mobile connections for learners to select, hear and say words, then receive feedback from focused speech recognition. The organization is looking for knowledgeable consultants for Web media, programming and delivery. If you think you would be able to help APAL, please contact Ernest Locketa.

Help these organizations WEB DESIGN: Big Sis Lil’ Sis, Inc. pairs young girls ages 12-21 with women who can relate to their daily fears and concerns and can empower them to make wise life decisions. They are looking for a website that could be used by the mentors/mentees to communicate: video, chat, blog, etc. To volunteer, please e-mail LaCresha.
GRAPHIC DESIGN: Rockland Family Shelter offers services and support that promote safety for women and children while challenging and changing the social systems that tolerate and perpetuate violence and oppression against women and others who are oppressed. The organization is looking for a designer to help them to create a logo. To volunteer, please e-mail Julie.
