Community Spotlight

Featured Member: The Lamp NYC

The LAMP, also known as The Learning About Media Project, is making use of our Language Translation Tool. Their goal is to "demystify the constant flow of media" for youth, their parents, and educators through the use of workshops and media-related events. Executive director, D.C. Vito explains that,

"With the WorldLingo translation tool from Grassroots.org, our students can explore our website and blog regardless of their native tongue...[W]e are able to breach the language barrier while we grow and connect with diverse communities throughout the city."

To view their toolbar in action, visit TheLAMP's site and navigate their language toolbar.

Featured Volunteer : Leonardo Picado - The Empathy Project

Congratulations to Leonardo Picado for being the first volunteer in November to complete a website! For designing the site for The Empathy Project, Leonardo won a USB flash drive.

Our Graphic Design Program is now seeking volunteers! Applications have already started coming in from members looking for help with logos, letterhead, merchandise and more! If you are interested in performing volunteer graphic design work, you will notice that the “Opportunities” link on Grassroots.org's Volunteer Site now requires you to select “Volunteer for Graphic Design” or “Volunteer for Web Design”.

Event Spotlight: Dingman Center Students

On November 19, 2008, Mike Mann generously hosted a graduation event for the students of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Thanks to the students of this program, we are able to provide nonprofits free Project Consulting. Thank you to the students who have volunteered their time! The launch comes with exciting news that our membership has reached 1,000, a major milestone in reaching our goal of 10,000! Thank you specifically to our members, volunteers, and partners! We'd like to especially thank Mike Mann for his dedication and support of Grassroots.org. Visit our member map and member gallery to learn about Grassroots.org's Nonprofit Members.

Holiday Drive at Grassroots.org

Grassroots.org wishes everyone a great holiday season, with a reminder that during this season, all donations (up to $100,000) will be matched 100% thanks to Make Change Trust. By maximizing your donation, we'll be able to provide quality services and build capacity for nonprofits.

We realize it may have been difficult this year for many nonprofits, and with your donations, we can connect organizations with free tools, saving them time and money. Please help us with your generous donations; those who donate more than $125 will receive a free Grassroots.org t-shirt while supplies last! Donate Now!
