About First 5 Tehama:
California Children and Families First Act of 1998 (Proposition 10).
The Act recognizes the compelling need in California to create and implement a comprehensive, collaborative, and intregrated system of information and services to support and optimize early childhood development beginning at the prenatal stage to five years of age.
The mission of First 5 Tehama is to make sure Tehama County children will be born healthy, thrive in safe, supportive, nurturing and loving environments, and enter school cognitively prepared and be healthy, active, socially appropriate learners. The Tehama Children & Families Commission was founded in 1999 and is now currently serving 2,000 clients with only 2 paid employees.
First 5 Tehama on Grassroots.org:
"Because Grassrots is offering this service free, we are able to pass those savings onto the programs that we fund. We have referred many other organizations to your wonderful service. Especially in this time of rising costs and budget cuts, Grassroots.org services are a shinig star," said Rhonda Meadows.
Favorite part of working with Grassroots.org...The free design experts and the ease of working with the website.
Grassroots.org's Overall Impact:
We have many organizations and individuals who rely on our website as a linkage to other services and info in the community.
Tehama County is a small rural county; Prop 10 funds (thier primary source of funding) are based on births in each county. Our commission maximizes our resources per our strategic plan. The limited funding we receive has been strategically planned for future funding. Grassroots.org's free service has allowed us to be accessible and communicate to the community (and world for that matter) without using precious resources. We have become the information station for our county through our website. Grassroots.org is providing a much needed platform for communication and resources.
